Scots School, Albury played host to the Carevan fund-raiser on June 04th, raising a massive $50,000 for this wonderful charity. Money was raised from ticket sales, live auction, silent auctions, photo portraits, raffles and generous donations. The evening was supported by media and performance celebrities, along with fellow charity organisations, local and interestate business and individuals. These included former 7:30 Report presenter Kerry O'Brien, Stan Walker, Justice Crew and Father Chris O'Reilly, Founder of Youth off The Streets. A special part of the evening was the first time release of the Carevan Song performed by local duo Chloe Laundess and Abby Iverson. Perhaps the most lasting impression from the night was the insight given during an interview by Kerry O'Brien. This special part of the evening provided a greater understanding of the plight and desperation of the homeless and disadvantaged that are amongst all of us in our own town and city neighbourhoods. Often those who don't choose their own path, but rather one created for them through unfortunate circumstance, neglect and abuse, highlighting the need for organisations such as Carevan and people like Jodie Tiernan, CEO and Founder John Brabant, and their volunteers. Congratulations to all involved and I was honoured to be a part of a great event.
