Last weekend was my first foray into the specialist world of V8 Supercars. I had the enviable job of shooting this fantastic event over 2 days at Sydney Olympic Park, for the final round of the V8 Supercar Championship. Results on Saturday meant that Sunday came down to a decider for the Championship between team Vodafone drivers Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup, with the latter being the Winner on a wet Sunday to claim his 3rd V8 SupercarChampionship Trophy. If I sound a little enthused, it's because shooting this sport is a buzz. The cars go hard and fast, and the fans harder. I shot it with a fairly specific brief, so my stuff is pretty heavy on signage, but hope to get an open brief to cover it again one day. And to top it off, the Concert on the Saturday night with Hunters and Collectors reforming for a once only show, along with Noiseworks, John Farnham, James Reyne, and X-Factor Winner Reece Mastin.

Don Hany & 'Suburbia' receives AFI Awards
Last year I was invited to shoot stills on the film 'Suburbia' for with a very talented production team including Director Antonio Orena Barlin, Producer Richard Halsted, and DOP Lachlan Milne. The Film has just screened at the St Kilda Film Festival, and picked up a few impressive Awards. Don Hany for Best Actor, the Craft Award and the SBS Television Award, which hopefully will lead to SBS picking it up and screening it on TV. This is a remarkable piece of film making based upon an extraordinary true story. The cast also included Linda Cropper and Jodi Gordon. A good review here, http://raws.adc.rmit.edu.au/~s3241757/blog2/ but be warned it's a *SPOILER* if you haven't seen the film yet.
Despite a very serious circumstance upon which the film is based, there was some great light hearted moments between the cast and crew on set.
